As Humans Interview - AUG 6, 2020 (Patreon Archive)
Hello!
I've been busy! Preparing for Knit Stars workshop filming, getting back to work full-time managing a staff and designing, organizing test knitting groups, releasing patterns, getting all our wedding ceremony photos and films and just enjoying being married.
I was invited to be a part of a very cool project, As Humans Collection, a collection of stories of everyday humans. It was a very raw, organic, and vulnerable interview that I had with basically, a complete stranger.
The interviewer is a friend of a good friend of mine from college so I had some trust going in. I really couldn't believe how open I was, to be honest. I, personally, hate talking about myself verbally and it came kind of naturally for me. Maybe because I've been writing about vulnerable topics for a while. Speaking, vocalizing, my thoughts was definitely different but also kind of nice to be able to express in more than one way. (Thanks, therapy?)
And also, the kick-ass portrait! That portrait is ME! That's incredible talent! It captured me perfectly and drew a another face that also represents me in the background. For me, it represents that I lead with kindness and a smile on my face. The second you do not respect me or my boundaries or claim racism isn't real or you don't see color or "all lives matter" or you dismiss my experiences, that's when the other fu*k you face comes out and that's very me. I love joy but also "don't mess with me" vibes.
Human connection is something I always look for. Deep and honest human connection and I feel this interview and this project helped me feel connected, even just connected to myself to on a human level and remembering I am human and I'll never be perfect or what anyone else wants me to be.
I wrote a little bit more about this portrait and interview on Instagram too.
Give my interview a read! And read other stories too! Let me know what you think of this project!
